The message from pillar C is transmitted from pillar A to pillar B, 

pillar B conveys the message from pillar C received from pillar A to pillar D, 

and pillar D receives the message from pillar B to pillar C.

does not yet know that Pillar B has replied to the message from Pillar C to Pillar B.
